Professional learning

Schools that participate in the fully funded* Good to Great Schools Australia program receive comprehensive professional learning for all staff. It is delivered to the principal, instruction coach, teachers and teaching assistants.

Good to Great Schools Australia uses self-paced modules delivered through our online learning platform the Mastery Teaching Pathway.
The Mastery Teaching Pathway is Good to Great Schools Australia’s professional development platform and a tool to track all professional development activities of the program.

The four separate pathways that participants start on are:

Instructional leader

Principals becoming instructional leaders, who can lead instructional improvement in their schools and support other school leaders to do the same.

Expert Coach

Instruction coaches managing instructional improvement in their school, who can support a network of schools to deliver instructional improvement.

Mastery Teacher

Teachers mastering effective teaching by achieving improved student outcomes, who can coach other teachers or manage school-wide improvement.

Teaching Assistant

Teaching assistants becoming skilled effective teaching support in the classroom or an alternative specialization to become a Student Development Assistant.

* Places are limited and priority is given to schools that meet the following criteria:
