Overview

In I Can Bounce, students will learn the skills of controlling a selection of balls including large, small, high bounce and low bounce in a structured environment.

Learning Objectives

In Lessons 1 to 7, students learn to:

  • roll a large ball
  • roll a small ball
  • bounce a ball
  • pass a ball using a chest pass
  • throw a ball using an overarm throw and an underarm throw
  • kick a ball.
Assessment

Observations of individual skill components during each lesson and formal assessment in Lessons 8 and 9. Students to be assessed on performance of skill and active involvement in class activities.

Overview

In Run Kids Run, students will demonstrate dodging, jumping and running skills through play-based agility games and skipping games.

Learning Objectives

In Lessons 1 to 7, students learn to:

      • dodge a stationary object
      • change levels when we dodge a moving object
      • dodge an opponent
      • jump
      • leap
      • jump a long skipping rope
      • jump a short rope
      • dodge, jump and leap.
Assessment

In Games around the State, students refine and apply movement concepts and strategies to games including ball games, tennis and Newcombe ball

Learning Objectives

In Lessons 1 to 7, students learn to:

      • control direction and power when throwing a chest pass
      • identify attack and defense opportunities in the game of Newcombe ball
      • perform a forehand strike with and without equipment
      • control the direction of a forehand strike
      • perform a backhand strike.

In Cultural Games, students discover the links between Indigenous games from the past and games from around the world that are played today.

Learning Objectives

In Lessons 1 to 7, students learn to:

  • change levels when running and dodging
  • evade defenders when running and dodging
  • kick and pass a ground ball
  • perform a punt kick
  • control the direction of a punt kick
  • control balance and momentum when jumping
  • jump a long skipping rope.

In Oztag, students are introduced to the specialised movement skills and concepts of Queensland’s fastest growing game.

Learning Objectives

In Lessons 1 to 7, students learn to:

  • pass a football
  • draw and pass to beat an opponent
  • twist and spin with a football to evade an opponent
  • kick a football · evade an opponent to score a try and play the ball
  • work as a team to defend an opposition in small groups
  •  work as a team to defend an opposition in large groups.

In Basketball, students will perform the specialised movement skills required for the game. Students will be challenged to discover offensive and defensive strategies within the game.

Learning Objectives

In Lessons 1 to 7, students learn to:

  • dribble a basketball

  • shoulder pass and lob pass to evade an opponent
  • control the direction of a basketball when shooting for a hoop
  • jump and gain possession of a basketball
  • make a defensive guard
  • work as a team to defend an attacking team.
