A program is built on strong child development evidence in social and emotional learning, behaviour and character development. Supporting students to reach their full potential.

Social and Emotional Learning Year F-6

SEL builds the foundations of each student’s development through ‘Feel’, focusing on building self-awareness, emotional regulation, social awareness and social skills to manage emotions, interact positively with others and make responsible decisions. 

Unit 1: Foundation

Students focus on building essential social and emotional skills to support healthy interactions and personal growth. 

Unit 1: Years 1-2

Students learn to recognise and name their feelings, calm themselves and communicate respectfully. 

Unit 1: Years 3-4

Students explore how emotions shape thoughts, actions and relationships. 

Unit 1: Years 5-6

Students develop essential social and emotional skills that foster their personal growth and relationships with others.

Positive High-Expectations Years F-6

PHE is our ‘Act’, behaviour management component of Every Child is Special. PHE helps develop key traits, such as responsibility, perseverance, respect and preparation. There are three components:

Motto and Values 

Introduces students to the school motto and core values that shape a positive school community. Students develop character traits such as responsibility, perseverance, respect and preparation.

Unit 1: ECIS-PHE

Emphasises routines that cultivate personal responsibility, teamwork, gratitude and care for the environment. These practices foster character development while promoting a supportive and cooperative school culture.

Unit 2: ECIS-PHE

Focuses on routines that enhance students’ emotional well-being and social interaction skills. Activities encourage mindfulness, emotional regulation and meaningful peer connections.

Character Development Years F-6

It takes a village to raise a child, and school is an important part of that. The Character Development ‘Become’ units support character-building within school and at home 

Unit 1: Foundation

Introduces students to key concepts of self-discipline, reflection and kindness.  

Unit 1: Years 1-2

Students explore key concepts that support personal growth: self-discipline, kindness, gratitude, passion, curiosity, belief and grit. 

Unit 1: Years 3-4

Students discover how effort, time and consistency play vital roles in achieving their goals. 

Unit 1: Years 5-6

Empowers students to explore and develop essential character traits that foster personal growth, resilience and leadership.
