Overview

Students explore what art is and what it can look like. They learn that anyone can be an artist. The elements of art are explored to develop an understanding of how artworks are created. Students learn that artists can express their ideas, observations and imagination through different techniques. They develop an awareness of what an art exhibition is and what it means to exhibit art. 
Learning Objectives
In Lessons 1 to 17, students learn to:
  1. identify types of art
  2. identify where and why art is presented
  3. recognise the elements in art
  4. experiment with art techniques
  5. express ideas through drawing
  6. identify painting as art
  7. express imagination through painting
  8. express ideas through sculpture
  9. make patterns using prints
  10. identify fibers and experiment using fibers in art
  11. identify collage as art
  12. express ideas through collage
  13. identify digital images as art
  14. create art using digital images
  15. identify indigenous art
  16. describe artworks
  17. describe their own artworks
  18. express ideas through a group artwork
  19. prepare for their art exhibition.
