Overview
Band Camp Years 3–6 is an extracurricular music program that enables students to have an intensive and immersive musical learning experience. Band Camp is also an opportunity to consolidate and showcase learning from the Music for Learning program.
Success Criteria
  • Audience response is positive.
  • Band performance is high quality.
  • Parent and community engagement in Music for Learning program is increased.
  • Student, staff and parent engagement in Band Camp is increased.
  • Students’ passion for music is ignited.
  • Students and their teachers return to school enthused and ready to commit to developing further musical talents.
Lesson Objectives
Over one week at Band Camp, students learn about:
  1. Working well together to achieve learning outcomes.
  2. Playing instrumental music and mastery of chosen instruments.
  3. Developing skills in musicianship.
  4. Developing confidence in performing for audiences.
  5. Strengthening ties with music students from other schools.
