About the role

The School Improvement Coach works closely with principals in schools to support their delivery of the tailored implementation plan. The School Improvement Coach reports to the Manager of School Partnerships.


  • Provide principals with training and coaching to successfully deliver their tailored implementation plan.
  • Develop tailored implementation plans with school leaders.
  • Participate with the project team in improving school implementations.
  • Train and coach principals in being Instructional Leaders.
  • Mentor and advise principals on issues they are struggling to resolve.
  • Support Teaching Coaches through non-technical issues and dealing with principals’ program outcomes.
Selection Criteria

  • School leadership experience within primary or secondary.
  • Minimum 5 years leadership experience in leading school improvement.
  • Demonstrated coaching, mentoring and supervisory experience of principals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or practice of leading explicit instruction.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong professional relationships with school leaders and teaching staff.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values, practices and work approach of Good to Great Schools Australia.
