Good to Great Schools Australia (GGSA) is a not for profit organisation which drives education reform by supporting Australian education systems and communities to help their schools successfully deliver 21st century programs that meet the needs of all their students.

We have been focusing on the long tail of underachievement in Australia’s remote schools and have developed a customised Direct Instruction and Explicit Direct Instruction implementation model for our Great Teaching Program.  These models both respond to the unique needs of remote Australian schools and they align with the Australian Curriculum and local teaching and learning contexts.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

The Project Developer will own and coordinate the delivery of projects and follow the organisation’s innovation model to deliver projects on time and in line with client expectations. Essential requirements of this position are outstanding organisation, planning, analytical, research, collaboration, written and oral communication skills, along with flexibility to undertake a wide range of project activities based on the changing needs of our small but growing organisation.

The Project Developer will be responsible for leading projects from starting-up to closing, supporting team members to follow the innovation model and managing the project schedule to ensure timely delivery of project objectives in line with the GGSA vision. The role is also responsible for engaging internal and external stakeholders, liaising with GGSA partners and reporting progress to project owners and clients.

The major functions of this role are:

  • Develop innovation and continuous improvement projects
  • Lead small to medium scale projects
  • Support team members to ensure the innovation model is fully embedded in all aspects of the project work across the organisation; and,
  • Assist the Production Manager to deliver all aspects of innovation, eg. Update the project schedule to ensure that all projects are maintained and all milestones are met
Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in business, economics, engineering, public policy or a related discipline
  • Strong track record of successful project delivery, including managing multiple projects concurrently
  • Experience in project scheduling; including activity definition, duration estimating and activity scheduling
  • Experience in coordinating cross-functional team members
  • Experience in leading and undertaking business and/or social policy related research, analysis and design
  • Strong writing skills in business cases, briefs and presentations
  • Proven ability to develop strong networks with diverse key partners with demonstrated negotiation skills and the ability to address difficult or contentious concepts
  • Exceptional research, communication skills (oral and written), IT skills (Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint), and strong organisational and time management skills
  • Empathy with less advantaged peoples and a desire to see them gain access to the same opportunities as other Australians
  • Willingness to travel away from base location to spend time visiting regional and remote areas of Australia
  • Ability to obtain a working with children check (QLD Blue Card) and
  • Ability to obtain a successful police check.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience as an analyst in a management consulting firm
  • Masters level tertiary qualifications, particularly an MBA
  • Knowledge of Direct Instruction and Explicit Direct Instruction models
  • A familiarity with and knowledge of the Australian primary and secondary education sector
  • Understanding of design and co-design processes; education reform; business development, monitoring and evaluation and
  • Understanding of the social, political and legal framework in which the organisation operates.

Positions at GGSA are subject to the successful candidate being able to obtain a National Police Check and a Working with Children Card (Blue Card).
