Classroom coaching key for effective teaching

Our teacher coach Helen recently returned from a trip to Mapoon where she supports the school to implement Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI). With an experienced principal championing EDI and many graduate teachers who have never been exposed to the pedagogy before, Helen admires how the team has embraced the program and student progress is being made.

“Working in a small remote school comes with a number of constraints that Mapoon school staff work through admirably… yet it always impresses me how open the teachers are to receiving and making use of constructive feedback. Miss Taylah’s use of TAPPLE and the behaviour norms improves every visit, which just goes to show the difference classroom observations, feedback and teacher dedication can make.”
