Bible Literacy Unit 4 Year F

Unit Description

In unit four, the unit introduces students to important kings chosen by God and highlights God’s promise to David that his kingdom will last forever.

Beginning with David’s anointing and reign, the stories trace his rise to power and the building of Solomon’s Temple, symbolising the strength of God’s covenant.

Isaiah’s prophecy of Immanuel connects this promise to the coming of Jesus, whose birth fulfils God’s plan for an eternal kingdom, showing how Jesus is the ultimate King in the line of David.

Students will learn the historical context of each story.

Students will explore stories from the Bible using an interactive digital flipbook. This tool helps students unpack key elements such as character, setting, important themes and historical content, all while making connections to their everyday lives.

The digital stories offer an engaging and modern approach to learning, allowing students to reflect on how biblical lessons can shape their understanding of values and faith in a relatable way.

Bible Literacy Unit 4 Year 1

Unit Description

In unit four, students will develop their knowledge and understanding of individuals who showed courage and trust in God during challenging times.

From Daniel’s commitment to eat only clean food to Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego’s refusal to bow down to someone other than God. God blessed them and protected them for their faithfulness.

The unit then tells the story of Esther and Mary and how God used them, despite their fear, to protect His people and fulfil His promises.

Students will learn about the historical context of each story to deepen their understanding of these key Biblical figures.

In unit four, students will develop their knowledge and understanding of God’s promises and their fulfilment throughout generations.

Students will learn about God’s unrelenting love for His people as He intervenes in the lives of key figures, from Jacob to Jesus, showing how He fulfils His promises of hope and salvation.

Through this journey, students will explore stories depicting God’s blessing in unexpected places to unexpected people, further displaying God’s glory as He orchestrates His plan for salvation which ultimately leads to the birth of Jesus as the final fulfilment of His covenant.

Students will explore Christians from various countries, discovering diverse cultures and languages. Using a globe or map, they will locate each country featured in the lessons, fostering a sense of global community.

Students will begin this inspiring journey by reflecting on the comforting words of Psalm 23, which beautifully illustrates God as the shepherd, offering reassurance, guidance and care.

Students will delve into the story of Moses, witnessing how God guided His people through challenges with unwavering faithfulness.

From these profound lessons to the fulfilment of His promises through His Son’s life and teachings, the students will engage in stories about Jesus’ mission before discovering the hope of a new creation.

This unit explores the themes of freedom and fulfilment through significant events in the Old and New Testaments, highlighting God’s power to deliver and His provision for His people.

Students will examine the deliverance of the Israelites from Egypt, including the birth of Moses, the plagues, the first Passover, the crossing of the Red Sea, and God’s provision of manna in the wilderness.

The unit culminates in the announcement and birth of Jesus Christ, focusing on the fulfilment of God’s promises and the worship of those who recognised Him as King.
